AMEP English Courses

Pre-requisites - These courses have no predetermined pre-requisites, but CCC requires all students to attend an interview where language, literacy skills and knowledge will be assessed to support placement in the correct level class.  Initial placement will be reviewed and monitored with teachers after the first class.  Please bring all relevant paperwork to the first interview (click on this link to get a list of documents to bring) so that our Adult Education Officer can discuss and confirm funding eligibility.

Estimated duration of each course - Each course is scheduled for part-time delivery over a consecutive 24-month period, but entries are taken throughout the year.  The course content needs to be achieved with learning outcomes and assessment tasks completed satisfactorily to receive a Certificate and testamur for completion.  Learners joining part way through the year will be assessed for suitability for ongoing/next level study

Units offered - click on this link to see Delivery Matrix.

Expected location of delivery – All classes are held at 8 Chesterville Road, Cheltenham.  Classes may include excursions, and arrangements for those will be discussed with the class.

Mode of delivery – All lessons are classroom based as face to face sessions.

Fee information – Total fees including course, administration, materials, and any other fees will be explained at the time of enrolment. Base course fees are explained in the fee table.

Payment terms available – Payment is expected at the time of enrolment, however payment instalments may be negotiated. Refund terms are provided at the time of enrolment.

Work placement arrangements – There are no work placement hours required for these courses.

Materials or equipment student must provide – Students should bring note pad and pens each week to support their study.  All other resources are provided.

Course objectives - The Course EAL and the Certificates I-III in EAL provide a general education framework for learners to develop English language and literacy skills and optional numeracy skills to undertake further education and training, seek and maintain employment, and participate in the general community. The curriculum is used widely throughout Australia in the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP), the Adult and Community Education (ACE) sector, TAFE colleges, universities and private providers.

Assessment - Assessment is conducted regularly throughout each course during class time in a supported environment. Classroom tasks and activities will be retained as proof of assessment.

Certificates - Upon successful completion of all assessments CCC will award a certificate for the level 1, 2 & 3 qualifications. If students exit prior to the completion of the full qualification they may be issued with either a Statement of Attainment or Statement of Results.  A replacement certificate can be obtained on payment of a $100 administration fee.
