Adult Education Volunteers support tutors in creating a positive and effective learning environment for adult students. The role involves assisting students with classroom tasks, encouraging participation, and reinforcing the teacher’s instructions without taking over the learning process. Volunteers follow the teacher’s lead, remain within sight and sound of staff, and maintain professionalism at all times. Mobile phones must be off during class, and any absences should be communicated in advance.
While subject knowledge is helpful, a willingness to learn, respect for others, and clear communication are essential. Volunteers must respect boundaries, avoid conflicts of interest, and work under teacher direction to ensure students are supported, safe, and encouraged to learn independently.
