More About Our Childcare Centre

At Cheltenham Community Centre (CCC), we’re proud to offer a Child Care Subsidy (CCS) approved service with a warm, nurturing and inclusive environment for your little ones.

Our Childcare Service

Our childcare program caters for children aged 6 months to 5 years, with a focus on play-based learning, meaningful experiences and strong relationships.

Operating hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm

Minimum session: 3.5 hours

Maximum session: 7.5 hours per day

Capacity: Up to 25 children per day (28 hours per week)

Staff-to-Child Ratios

We maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios to ensure quality care and individual attention.

  • 1:4 for children under 3 years old
  • 1:11 for children over 3 years old

Our Educators

Our qualified staff hold a minimum of a Diploma in Children's Services, while our assistants either hold or are working towards their Certificate III in Children's Services.

Every staff member is trained in:

  • Level 2 First Aid
  • Anaphylaxis management
  • Asthma management

Multi-Age Play & Discovery

Our Multi-Age Play and Discovery program brings children aged 6 months to 5 years together in one shared learning environment every day.

This approach mirrors the natural rhythm of family life, allowing all ages to learn, play and grow alongside one another while still receiving age-appropriate support from our qualified educators.

Children benefit from being part of a mixed-age group in many meaningful ways:

  • They learn to understand and respond to the abilities and needs of others.
  • Older children naturally step into leadership and role-modelling behaviours.
  • Younger children gain confidence by observing and imitating older peers, especially in language, social interaction and problem-solving.
  • A strong sense of belonging is fostered, creating a warm family feeling that supports emotional security and healthy relationships.

Learning & Development

Within our Multi-Age & Discovery model, we incorporate all the strengths of our Pre-Kinder and 3-Year-Old Activity Group programs.

Children aged 2 to 5 years are invited into more structured experiences throughout the day, including:

  • Small-group learning
  • Mat time
  • Collaborative tasks
  • Themed discussions

These sessions build the foundations needed for 4-year-old kindergarten, including:

  • Social confidence and cooperative play
  • Listening, concentration and communication skills
  • Cognitive growth through problem-solving, creativity and early literacy
  • Fine and gross motor development

Play-Based Learning & EYLF

Our program remains strongly play-based and guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).

We support children to develop positive identity, emotional intelligence, resilience and an understanding of diversity, inclusion and Indigenous perspectives.

Core elements such as sustainability, road safety and the Jolly Phonics pre-reading program are embedded into our weekly planning.

Specialist Activities

Throughout the week, children enjoy rotating specialist activities, giving them varied opportunities to build coordination, balance, strength and wellbeing.

  • Ball Skills sessions on our multi-purpose court.
  • Children's Hatha Yoga to support balance, strength, body awareness and wellbeing.

Our Commitment to Children & Families

Every session is delivered by caring, experienced and qualified educators who uphold the Child Safe Standards and work closely with families to support each child’s learning journey.

We aim to create an environment where children feel safe, valued, included and supported while developing their confidence, independence, curiosity and sense of belonging.

What Families Say

"A huge shout out to a hidden gem in Chelthenham, the Cheltenham Community Centre... As a Mum of youngest (3 year old) this centre has been our saving grace. The kids programs, the all inclusive Soul Cafe with simple but tasty food at dirt cheap prices including coffee and of course the amazing occasional Childcare Centre that is brilliant, Cheltenham Early Learning Centre. Childcare wasn't something that we were considering until our little one want to go to school so we gave it a go. The diversity, flexibility, homely, naturing and caring educators reassured us we were in great hands. The programs and thought behind them was above and beyond what we expected and our little gained the confidence they need for three old kinder next year. As parents we loved the professionalism, reassurance, support and family feel this centre has. So if your looking for a childcare centre that has it all, it is homely, caring and cosy place. Or just check out the Cheltenham Community Centre it has something for everyone."

- Rachael Roach, review on Facebook

"I am incredibly grateful to have found CCC. After trying three childcare centres prior, I had almost lost hope in being able to find a truly caring and positive environment for my daughter. CCC is the only place that both her and I have truly felt comfortable. Unlike most other childcare centres you are guaranteed to know all carers in the room who have all been with the centre for lengthy periods of time which is highly uncommon in the sector and a testament to the working environment and genuine care and passion the educators have for the children. They get to know each individual child and tailor their support. This meant that my child went from being incredibly uncomfortable at drop off at other centres to being happy and confident to walk through the door at CCC. The most important thing is that they mean what they say. They communicate any changes proactively, really listen to concerns and feedback, provide support and have genuine care for the children and are not about being shiny and new with the sole intention of profits like majority of childcare centres. My only regret is not moving to CCC sooner. Thank you CCC team for all that you have done for us."

- Lucy

"Thanks Leanne and thank you Rita for these wonderful sessions. Mia is getting so much out of yoga at childcare and was so excited to discover Rita will now be there on some Tuesdays too. She pulls out her yoga mat at home most days and shows us how to do yoga poses. I love this for Mia, it's so wonderful for her to develop a love of this so early in life :)"
